Volunteer with Yes on E

This November, San Francisco voters have an opportunity to invest in the future of arts and culture in San Francisco by voting Yes on Prop E. Without raising taxes or taking existing funding away from municipal allocations, Prop E will bolster arts and culture funding citywide – doubling arts funding in San Francisco over the next ten years. But this measure requires 67% of San Francisco voters to say Yes on E, and your help is needed to make this happen!

Volunteering is easy and makes a huge impact on the campaign! You can join Yes on E by volunteering at phone and text banking sessions Monday through Thursday 5 – 8 PM at locations like The Stud and Code & Canvas, and/or by knocking on doors on Saturday and Sunday day with the Yes on E team!

Volunteers needed for Oakland Ballet Company’s Luna Mexciana Performances

Volunteers are needed to assist at Oakland Ballet Company’s performances of Luna Mexicana – a dance and music celebration of Dia de los Muertos.

Smuin Ballet will accept applications via email from November 1, 2018 – March 24, 2019.
The company offers 35-40 week competitive dancer contracts, presenting approximately 70 performances per season.

A staple of the San Francisco dance community for more than 20 years, Smuin pushes the boundaries of contemporary ballet within a distinctly American style, combining classical ballet training, technique, and artistry with uncommon physicality and expression. Tracing Africa Circle – African Dance Histories & Philosophies is a monthly circle of talk series and dance demonstrations that address the histories, theories and philosophies applied to the practices of the multicultural dance forms of Africa.

Each month, the Circle suggests an open topic of discussion to allow the participants to share their experiences on the subject matter.

This October session topic of discussion is Feminine Presence in the Dances of Africa.

LEVYdance Seeks an Administrative and Studio Coordinator

The Administrative and Studio Coordinator supports the Company Manager (CM) and Executive Artistic Director (EAD) in all aspects of LEVYdance, LEVYsalon Artist in Residence Program and LEVYstudio activities. This includes general office organization, studio maintenance and improvements, and online marketing. The position also acts as point of contact for studio renters, which involves fielding all studio rental inquiries, as well as scheduling, contracting, and invoicing renters. Additional duties might include, but are not limited to: assisting with special company events and performances, individual donor relations, and general office organization.

You can just call ahead for the run time and show up at the end to hand out postcards outside the venue.

Dragon Spring Phoenix Rise Performance at the Shed

Audition notice
Highly skilled, versatile and experienced performers required. Paladino Casting is seeking professional performers to be cast in The Shed’s opening season in summer 2019. They are looking for performers who can do controlled & precise movement including actors who are confident being physical: – Highly-trained African American / Ethnically Ambiguous hip-hop dancers – Asian and Eurasian advanced modern dancers & stage actors.

The performers must be fully available for creation from June 24, 2019 – July 27, 2019, 3 weeks workshop (October 22 – November 10, 2018), total rehearsals 11-12 weeks 2018-2019.

In-Person Audition will take place in the U.S, location/time TBD. Please submit a self-tape along with the online application. Please see details below
Audition is by invitation only and we will be shortlisting performers and dancers to bring to a 3-week workshop October 22 – November 10, 2018 to finalize the cast.
