La Tormenta Bachata Team’s Auditions

Audition for La Tormenta’s Bachata Partnerwork performance teams.
This season will have a beginner/intermediate team and an intermediate/advanced team. These teams focus on body movement, complex turn patterns, footwork, tricks, transitions, and urban fusion. No partner required to audition. Audition begins at 8:30pm.

Audition for the bachata fusion leaders team directed by Jhonatan Parco or La Tormenta’s follows bachata fusion team known as Supernova directed by Daniela Parco.
La Tormenta will simultaneously hold the audition for both teams, these teams are gender neutral so feel free to try out for either. The Leaders team focuses on bachata footwork, body movement, and leaders styling. Supernova focuses on bachata footwork, arm styling, body movement, floor work, and bachata fusion with hip hop and jazz. Audition begins at 9:30pm.

Mission Statement:
To create a safe, judgement free zone where people can express themselves through dance. La Tormenta also plans to raise awareness of the machismo norms within the dance scene through our classes, dance teams, Bachata Takeover, and social media platforms.

PUSH Dance Company – Audition Series

PUSH Dance Company is offering dancers ages 18-26 a unique performance-opportunity called Pathways during their residency at Bayview Opera House in San Francisco. This program is open to dancers of all styles/genres and is provided by PUSH and BVOH. Dancers must be available to rehearse and take part in all career coaching, marketing and technology tools activities. A stipend of $500 per participant is provided upon completion of the program. A Call-back audition is set for March 18th. Dancers will be asked to perform materials from Raissa Simpson’s Codelining 2.0 and must have the ability to collaborate with others.

Audition for Group Experimental Nago

Grupo Experimental Nago (Afro-Cuban-Haitian) is holding auditions for their performance at The San Francisco Rueda Festival on 14 Feb 2019 and future shows throughout the season. The company specializes in Afro-Cuban/Afro-Haitian technique, but are interested in dancers with performance experience in a variety of forms. Rehearsals/company class will be Wednesdays from 6- 7:30 PM at Mission Cultural Center, 2868 Mission St., SF. Additional rehearsals will be added closer to performances.

Call for East Asian Female-Presenting Dancers

Call for dancers who present as East Asian women (all gender identities welcome) for performance project researching the *whitening* of Asian Americans and how the East Asian female body is perceived in performance. Performers should have experience with contemporary release-based dance, improvisation, and use of voice onstage. Dancers with extensive training and performance in other dance styles who are interested in release-based/improvisation/voice are also encouraged to apply.

Paid rehearsals are 2-3 times/week on weekdays beginning Jan 2019. Performances are scheduled for Mar 22-23 at SAFEhouse Arts (SF) and mid-July at Joe Goode Annex as part of the SAFEhouse Arts RAW Resident Artist Workshop, with additional performances possible later in the year.

Audition for Brannigan Dance Works

An informal audition to be apart of Khala Brannigan’s newest work, Bones to be premiered at the Joe Goode Annex, March 1st and 2nd 2019.

“Bones are a symbol of death and rebirth – a research of the soul. Though we may not share the same personal histories in society, bones could symbolize the truth of equality – once we dig deeper, we find that we all share the same matter.”

I am looking for dancers with strong ballet and modern technique with a willingness to share their own stories of resilience through movement.

The ensemble will be paid an honorarium fee for the project. Rehearsals will start in January/February 2019. Exact dates and hours are TBD.

Rambert School, one of the world’s leading and most historic conservatoires, will be returning to Los Angeles on Sunday 17 February 2019. We will hold a day of auditions and workshops at USC Glorya Kaufman International Dance Center.

AUDITIONS are open to young dancers who want to progress their professional dance training in the UK, on our internationally regarded undergraduate FD/BA Honours Degree in Ballet & Contemporary Dance (validated by the University of Kent).

WORKSHOPS are open to aspiring young dancers, aged 14-19 years, who are considering their next steps in dance training and who might be interested in auditioning for the School in the future. Participants will gain an insight in to the ‘Rambert School Way’ in a unique workshop led by Amanda Britton, our incredible Principal & Artistic Director, herself an alumnus of the School and of Rambert company.
