Communities’ Crossing Contact #2

Sat, Jun 20, 11am-1pm
Phat Beets Farmers Market/Stanford Ave, 970 Grace Ave, Oakland

What’s happening to your neighborhood? In your neighborhood? Who are your neighbors? Communities’ Crossing Contact #2 explores these questions through a focus on the Golden Gate neighborhood in North Oakland. This collaborative, multidisciplinary project between Marksearch and the Oakland Improv Collective is the culmination of a residency at Kala Art Institute and an in-depth exploration by Marksearch of the changes (past and present) to the neighborhood. The Oakland Improv Collective’s improvisational, site-specific performances evolved from Marksearch’s archival research and extensive interviews with new and long-time Golden Gate community members.

Additional performance opportunities are available for a Sat, Jun 27 event in a different neighborhood location. This event is part of the “Print Public” series at Kala Art Institute.
