CA$H is designed by artists for artists to support professionally oriented theatre and dance artists and small companies with budgets under $100,000. Its purpose is to spark a creative surge throughout Northern California's theatre and dance community by providing grants to artists ($1,500) and small-sized organizations ($2,500). Approximately $20,000 is awarded each round. Funding decisions are made by a rotating five-member peer panel drawn from a pool of volunteers, all of them potential applicants who have gone through panel training. Funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Irvine Foundation and the San Francisco Hotel Tax Fund/Grants for the Arts. To find out about upcoming CA$H workshops and deadlines or to download an application please go to www.theatrebayarea.org. Guidelines Grants will support artistic and organizational development projects giving priority to those that are likely to result in some kind of tangible creative activity - whether or not a performance comes out of it. Selection panel The staff of Theater Bay Area and Dancers' Group will not participate in the selection of grantees. The panel pool is now being developed with an open call to artists and arts professionals who are fair, open minded, able to work within a group to reach decisions, and highly knowledgeable about the field. If you would like to be in this pool and are willing to attend an orientation for prospective panelists, contact the CA$H Information Line: (415) 430-1140, ext. 14. Eligibility and Rules CA$H is open to theater and dance artists and small organizations that create and perform theater or dance works in the Theater Bay Area service area. Artists must be at least 18 years old. Organizations, incorporated or not, must have a yearly budget under $100,000. CA$H is limited to professional artists and organizations. We do not accept applications from students, presenters, venues, non-professional companies, or arts education programs. |
