Rhythmically Speaking is a Twin Cities (MN)-based nonprofit with 10+ years of history supporting and presenting staged work inspired by jazz and American social dance ideas. We are seeking choreographic submissions for The Cohort, a multiple choreographer production in August of 2020 at the Southern Theater in Minneapolis, MN. We will select from our open call for choreographers one “Local” (Minnesota-based) choreographer to make a new work alongside RS Artistic Director Erinn Liebhard, and two “Visiting” choreographers (based outside Minnesota) to revisit a piece of their repertoire. All four 15-22 minute works will be learned and performed by a group of 7-9 selected Twin Cities dancers. Artists who are 21+ and at any point in their careers are welcomed to apply with an existing 15-22 minute work for eight dancers or less that is inspired by jazz or other American social dance ideas. Important program and submission details, and submission form itself can be found at our website.
