Mahea Uchiyama Center for International Dance (MUCID) has started a new initiative, the African American Mbira Project. including a new monthly interview series, Dare, Conversations in the Diaspora, exploring the artistic work of music and dance makers who uphold their tradition in these modern times.

A Conversation with Kiazi Malonga.
Kiazi Malonga has been immersed in Congolese performing arts as the son of his late father, the legendary master artist Malonga Casquelourd. In addition to his lifetime of experience performing and teaching Congolese music and dance, he is also the founder of Pelisa Energy, a nonprofit enterprise committed to introducing off—grid solar energy to the Congo, and will soon be releasing his first CD.
