Join Nefertiti on International Dance Day to celebrate Brazilian style!

Join a safe and welcoming space for beginners and dancers alike to express themselves through traditional and contemporary afro-brazilian dance forms. Class will begin by centering minds and bodies, then activating internal rhythm and heat by exploring different samba dance styles and their contexts. Class will close out dancing playfully in the roda (circle), celebrating your own bodies and each others!

“This is a dance class like no other. I’ve never witnessed someone so artfully weave together movement, origin stories, and meaning. Nef teaches you how to prepare not only your body, but your soul, for movement — and it’s exquisite.” –Sheila C.

Nefertiti is native/black, queer, interdisciplinary artist of Guatemalan roots. She lived in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil until 2021 for 9 years. During that time, she studied and performed with more than 20 pioneers in Afro-Brazilian contemporary and folk performing arts.
