Modeled after the Fritura Livre community Body Music jams that have been happening monthly in Sao Paulo Brazil for ten years, Keith Terry & Crosspulse started a monthly jam here in the Bay Area following the 2023 International Day of Body Music – which is the first Sunday in February annually. Body Music is the oldest music on the planet – people around the world step, clap, sing their musical ideas in a variety of ways. Beyond body percussion, Body Music includes melody and harmony, all the sounds the body makes. Studies have shown the health benefits of moving in time, in pulse, in groups, and in these sessions Keith with guests leaders like Evie Ladin (MoToR/dance), Bryan Dyer (Bobby McFerrin, SoVoSo) and others, lead activities that not only get you moving in time and deepening rhythmic sensibilities, but encourage improvisation in ways that get the brain fired up and all body systems integrated in making music you can see, dance you can hear. No experience needed, by donation.
