We are a public elementary school, with a Mandarin Immersion program. We enter the Lunar New Year parade each year with fan dancers, drummers and a dragon, performing to a popular Mandarin language song. Our group is 45 to 55 2nd thru 5th graders, and we practice after school once per week, leading up to the parade, which is on Sat, Feb 24.

One or two parents plus a choreographer run practices. Our regular choreographer is not available this year, so we’re looking for someone with experience to:
-pick out a song to perform to
-choreograph a simple 3-minute fan dance that can be looped
-choreograph a few simple drum patterns to the music that mirror dancers
-teach choreography at weekly 1.5hr practices in the 11 weeks (minus 2-weeks for winter break) ahead of the parade (we are not asking for day-of-parade help 🙂
-create/post a video of the choreography so families can practice at home

Our PTA has a budget for this, which I’m happy to discuss if you are interested in the job.

Dates:  Weekly, starting the week of Dec 11, through the week of Feb 19, with no sessions during 2-week winter break (Dec 25-Jan 5). So a total of 9 sessions.
Time:  Preferably Wednesdays from 1:00pm-2:30pm, but if that time slot is not available, we have some flexibility.
