An Evening of Dance and Music by Cookie Harrist and Collaborators

As we began the performance-making process, we reflected on the struggles of being performing artists in our sociopolitical and economic landscape. What became more inspiring was the way we were together despite it all: soft, attentive, tender, compassionate, honest. We crafted our relationships in real time as a creative process in itself and the dance became the container through which relational subtleties can be witnessed. The score of original music was developed alongside our movement vocabulary but hints at the darker context that lurks beyond our container.
