Imposter Syndrome
October 23, 2021 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
$16 – $20San Francisco International Arts Festival will present a combination live in-person and livestream program that culminates in a two-day outdoor program to take place at the Fort Mason Center (on the weekend of October 23-24). The weekend will feature over 30 dance, theatre and music ensembles and companies in more than two dozen separate concerts.
Tickets available for single concerts and Festival Passes for multiple shows.
The 2021 program celebrates the (cautious and health-conscious) reopening of San Francisco’s performing arts industry and seeks to reconnect individual artists with their audiences in a live performance setting. The program will follow Federal Health and Safety guidelines (attendees must be vaccinated/tested negative and wear face coverings).
Imposter Syndrome is homage and response to Steamroller Dance Company’s first appearance in the SF International Arts Festival in 2016. The excessiveness of drag set in a dark and disturbing cabaret collides with the company’s trademark athleticism and over-the-top performance style. Imposter Syndrome uses personal narratives of an entirely queer Asian cast made up of past and present STEAMROLLER performers: Arnel Alcordo, Jesselito Bie, Sawako Gannon and Kevin Wong to explore the intersections of constantly changing definitions of queer identity with race, gender and sexuality.
