IKKAI means once: a transplanted pilgrimage, commissioned by Japanese American Citizens League San Jose Chapter, is an evening length dance choreographed by Yayoi Kambara. It weaves together modern dance, a Japanese American (JA) Obon folk dance titled Ei Ja Nai Ka, and taiko drums, exploring the unjust incarceration of JAs, struggles for healing, and current solidarity with communities facing violence.
