The 26th Annual Dionysian Festival, in celebration of the birth of Isadora Duncan, will be the first full-scale festival at the Mary Sano Studio since the pandemic. Several talented artists and friends of the studio are returning to present their work along with exciting new artists; celebrating the mother of modern dance, who was born in San Francisco on May 26, 1877.

The program includes both solo and collaborative original work from Los Angeles based composer/pianist Tony Chapman, Bay Area Butoh dancer Megan Nicely, and award-winning composer Merrill Collins.

Newcomers Anna Gichan and Courtney Ramm will share their new dance works while Hideo and Edward Schocker will share their unique presentation of Japanese instrumental music.

Mary Sano and Adrienne Ramm, two of the world’s foremost interpreters of Duncan choreography, will perform authentic Duncan choreography to the music of Schubert and Scriabin.
