Prumsodun Ok and Ishami Dance Company: Queering Traditions

June 8, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

$7 – $10

Image split between two groups. On the left there's a duet between an Indian man and woman both in dark red and green fabrics, looking deep into each other's eyes while swirling around each other. The image on the right shows a Cambodian man in the foreground, with a mixed group of Cambodian dancers behind him. They wear regal gold crowns and jewelry and short fabric shorts. They are outdoors behind a fire at nighttime.

Celebrate Pride Month with performers who use ancient dance styles to create new works highlighting LGBTQ+ characters and perspectives. Featuring Prumsodun Ok, founder of Cambodia’s first gay dance company, and Ishami Dance Company (co-directed by Ishika Seth and Amit Patel), a group committed to amplifying marginalized voices through South Asian contemporary dance.
