RAW Showcase

March 5, 2022 @ 8:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Lacin Keles Movement combines contemporary dance with pole dancing. In this piece, Lacin will explore the sense of belonging from the point of phenomenological concepts; spatial orientation/disorientation/reorientation. She will question where & what is home and what are the challenges of being an immigrant woman.

Erin Coyne’s new project “Momentum” includes a live duet performance accompanied by two short films. The work will focus on challenging the innate sense of momentum a performer feels building from music.

Marissa Maislin’s new piece is a dialogue of the disassociation female-identifying bodies are taught to embody throughout the various phases of their life. What is it to be in a society that wants you to stay disconnected to your pelvic region? That wants you to be ignorant to your own body parts, your own cycle, and also keeps your community ignorant as well? The piece will attempt to awaken and shine a light on the instinctual voice that resides in the abode of the female pelvis, and invite expressions that illustrate what it feels like to return, to remember, and to recover that vital and inherent piece of nature.

Maggie Ogle is curious about how our bodies can be configured to abstractly resemble other elements in our world.  The main focus for this piece is the mechanical relationships among machinery in conjunction with the robust energy of insects.
