RAW presents James Andrew Wilson

James is a performance artist and writer based in Oakland, California whose current interests include overly intimate solo performance, family history archives, and drag. They trained as a physical theatre performer at the Jacques Lecoq school and as a playwright at SF State. They also hold a doctorate in performance studies from the University of Warwick. They have performed in the UK, Europe, Canada, and here in California. Current interests include overly intimate solo performance, family history archives, and drag. They also teach English at a community college in the East Bay.

In this show James portrays a bitchy drag queen version of their grandmother Betsy in a way that contrasts their love of drag and their femme nonbinary identity against their grandmother’s anger and bitterness, “Bitch: The Drag Musical of the Life of My Grandmother
