One event on November 9, 2019 at 8:00 pm
Presented by HMD’s Bridge Project, Signals from the West: Bay Area Artists in Conversation with Merce Cunningham at 100 is a bicoastal collaboration with the Merce Cunningham Trust, ODC Theater and SFMOMA’s Open Space as part of the international celebration of the Cunningham centennial. Signals from the West has commissioned ten Bay Area artists from diverse disciplines and backgrounds to create new works of art in response to Cunningham’s legacy. These commissioned works will premiere at ODC Theater alongside excerpts of Cunningham repertory performed by Bay Area dancers. SFMOMA’s Open Space will commission an online series of writings in conjunction with the program.
The program will feature original artworks by artists: Sofía Córdova, Maxe Crandall, Alex Escalente, Christy Funsch, Julie Moon, Jenny Odell, Nicole Peisl, Danishta Rivero, Dazaun Soleyn, and Sophia Wang.
