Vastness

April 7, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

Created by NDI New Mexico’s most advanced dancers and set in the exquisite landscapes of White Sands, Abiquiu, and Valles Caldera, NDI New Mexico’s first-ever dance film, Vastness, artfully combines original dance, music, and poetry to create medicine for the soul during these challenging times. In this short film, dancers journey from the contemplation of solitude, through the search for connection, to a culmination centered on joy and hope for the future.

NDI New Mexico is founded with the knowledge that the arts have a unique power to engage and motivate children. ANDI New Mexico’s kinesthetic teaching methodology was developed by former NYC Ballet dancer and MacArthur Fellowship recipient, Jacques d’Amboise, who founded NDI in New York City in 1976. In 1994, Catherine Oppenheimer, formerly of NYC Ballet and Twyla Tharp Dance Company, co-founded NDI New Mexico in Santa Fe. Since that time, NDI New Mexico has grown from serving 100 children in one school to reaching almost 8,900 children annually through virtual In-School and Afterschool programs, Summer and Advanced training classes in communities across the state.
