AMERICAN PACHUCO: THE LEGEND OF LUIS VALDEZ opens right here in San Francisco at the Roxie, July 31 through August 7. The Sundance audience favorite film is about Luis Valdez, the man who built El Teatro Campesino out of California’s fields and put the pachuco on the American stage. Narrated by Edward James Olmos in character as El Pachuco. Luis Valdez and director David Alvarado will be there in person for Q&As the 3:30 pm screening on August 2. His El Teatro Campesino has made its home down the coast in San Juan Bautista for decades, so this story is Bay Area to its core.
