25th Anniversary Screening: Artists in Exile: A Story of Dance in San Francisco spans 40+ years of groundbreaking movement, from Anna Halprin’s revolutionary vision to Bay Area companies like ODC, Margaret Jenkins, Dance Brigade, Joe Goode, Contraband, Mangrove, and Tumbleweed. Through 43 interviews and footage from 50+ concerts, the film explores how San Francisco artists responded to social, political, and environmental realities, often overlooked by New York’s dominance. A portrait of resilience and innovation, with proceeds benefiting The Roxie and CounterPulse.
