Portals
Portals showcases the work of a collective of six Asian American femme choreographers. This mixed program highlights our varied stories, probing what it means to be at the crossroads of change. The program features Two Doors, a choreographic study on the aftermath of anti-Asian violence, first mounted in 2024. Two Doors ushers us on a journey towards relational vulnerability, opening the portal into an exploration of liminality. Performances of Portals are April 25 at 8:00pm and April 27 at 7:00pm. The performance of Two Doors with a panel on Asian American community mobilization with the UC Berkeley Asian American Research Center is on April 26 at 8:00pm.
This photo shows three dancers performing a contemporary dance piece on a dark stage with minimal background distractions. Each dancer is frozen mid-air, expressing energy and freedom through extended… arms and bent legs. They wear loose, vibrant costumes: orange pleated pants with a maroon top, a red skirt with a blue shirt, and navy trousers with a tan top. The lighting highlights their forms,
casting soft reflections on the stage floor. Their movements convey fluidity and emotion, emphasizing the art of motion and balance.
