The WE Initiative will provide twenty-five organizations and fiscally sponsored projects $100,000 annually for five years to support general operating expenses, totaling $500,000 each. This represents a continued shift toward trust-based philanthropy, offering fewer grants overall but with deeper support and partnership.
The WE Initiative will be our only open call for the next five years. We are accepting Letters of Inquiry now through 6:00 PM PT on Friday, June 27.

The San Francisco Arts Commission invites artists and artist teams residing in the United States to submit proposals for up to five opportunities to create temporary public art projects that reimagine the landscape of monuments and memorials in the City. The proposed temporary public art projects may include a variety of disciplines and genres such as sculpture, performance, multimedia art or educational programs.
$180,000 (per project) shall cover all project expenses included, but not limited to, permit fees, insurance, design and engineering, fabrication, installation, documentation, deinstallation and maintenance during the installation period.

CALI Catalyst provides unrestricted grants of up to $7,500 to California changemakers who are creating tangible impact within the arts and culture sector by shifting power and influence to underrepresented voices.

Funds Bay Area visual arts projects that provide frameworks of support for artists to create and continue their work. Possible projects include: exhibitions; publications, zines, or print series; festivals or events with a visual component; public learning opportunities for visual artists; new or ongoing projects; non-institutional spaces for art and artists; performances; film screenings; web-based projects; and more. Up to $5,000.
Note: Traditional theatrical or dance performances, film productions, or purely sound/music performances without a visual component are not eligible.

The Fleishhacker Foundation’s Small Arts Grants program provides general, unrestricted support to small and mid-sized arts and culture organizations in San Francisco, Alameda, and Contra Costa counties that produce and present new work by professional Bay Area artists in the disciplines of dance, music, theater, visual arts, interdisciplinary arts, or film.
The program also provides post-production support for film projects directed by filmmakers who reside in these counties.
Applications are open to the following:
- Nonprofit arts and culture organizations with annual expense budgets between $100,000 and $499,999 that meet the eligibility criteria below;
- Fiscally sponsored arts and culture organizations with annual expense budgets under $500,000 that meet the eligibility criteria below;
- Film projects with budgets under $750,000 that meet the eligibility criteria in the For Filmmakers section below.
There are two review cycles each year: spring and fall. Application deadlines are generally January 15 for spring decisions and July 15 for fall decisions.

Supports the creation of work by Bay Area artists and access to the arts for Bay Area communities. Grantseekers must be located in or serving communities in Alameda, Contra Costa or San Francisco Counties. While Community Arts grants are awarded as general operating support, application materials must include information about an upcoming project. Applications must be submitted by 5:00pm on the application cycle due date. Late and/or incomplete applications will be considered in the following cycle, if eligible. $5,000, $10,000 or $15,000.

Vital Arts’ Bay Area Artist Census Fellowship is an 18-month leadership opportunity for 7 artists (one from each of the 6 Bay Area counties—Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Solano, and San Mateo—plus one overseeing the entire initiative) to lead the Bay Area Artist Census (BAAC).
As a fellow, you’ll help shape the future of the Bay Area arts ecosystem by leading outreach, data collection, storytelling, and advocacy efforts—all while gaining skills in financial literacy, civic engagement, and wellness.
Fellows will be required to attend a workshop on the 1st Wednesday of every month between 4-6PM for the18th months of the fellowship.

The Investing in Artists: Artistic Innovation program (fka Investing in Artists) supports diverse, Bay Area working artists who are developing new work in the performing or media arts that pushes the envelope of their creative process, explores new artistic collaborations, and/or supports artistic growth and experimentation that extends the boundaries of their art-making.
For the 2025 Round: Must reside full-time in San Mateo, Santa Clara, or Santa Cruz County when applying and for the duration of the grant period (October 2025 – October 2026)
