5th Annual Environmental Show on Climate Change

The Sun Gallery proudly announces its 5th Annual Environmental Show, #ClimateChange: An Unfolding Emergency. The Artists Reception will include free appetizers, beverages and activities for children.

Performance artist Andrea Spearman, Artistic Director of A. Spearman & Co., will be performing a solo dance work entitled, “Terra Femme”. The piece will depict Earth as a feminine being whose energy (resources-water, land, plants and vegetation, minerals, etc) has been drained and her external turmoil as climate change shifts her entire being.

Choreographers and Coffee

Choreographers and Coffee is a meet up for choreographers of all genres that is held on the first Thursday of each month from 3-4pm at Robins Cafe on the ODC Theater Building. This meet up is a chance for choreographers at any stage in their career to engage in caffeinated conversation about the joys, discoveries, road blocks and pivotal moments that are faced while creating work. Conversations in the past have lead to: social impact on creating work, grant writing/fundraising, performance discussions, and finding ways to balance administrative work with artistry. Choreographers and Coffee offers a place outside the studio where artists can stay connected with each other and offer support through out own triumphs and tribulations.

20 Points of View: a peek into dance-making

Featuring 20 local choreographers, each with 30min to share their creative process rehearsing, improvising, or making a dance while engaging with audience in Luna’s studio. Dance lovers, individuals curious about the creative process, school groups, families and community members are invited to drop in all day, at any time to see artists in action. Tim Rubel Human Shakes open studio showing with refreshments

Tim Rubel Human Shakes will open their rehearsal doors to the public, for a free open studio showing of their work-in-progress, Alien, in solidarity with Arts Advocacy Day happening that same week. Guests will have the opportunity to give valuable feedback, before this piece premieres at CounterPulse, Jun 14-16, and then tours to Berlin in September.

About the work: Alien examines what it means to be an outsider in an environment that fears and questions your presence.

San Francisco Dance Film Festival Showing
