RoundAntennae Choreographic Mentorship: TALKABOUT

ODC/Dance Commons – Studio LP & Argyle, SF

Join KT Nelson and Amara Tabor Smith for an afternoon of choreographic show-and-tell at the ODC/Dance Commons. There are five spots (two-35 minute spots & three-40 minute spots) open for choreographers to show 10-20 minutes worth of material, followed by feedback.

The open spots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. With sign-up starting on Wed, Mar 1. Please select one of the spots below and include:

  • Your name and/or company name
  • Length of Piece
  • Number of Dancers (if over 2 please select a spot after 4:05pm)
  • Any special technical requirements
  • A second choice for time selection
  • Anything else you would like us to know about you, your work or where you are in your artistic process.

RoundAntennae is sponsoring TALKABOUT. All time and services are donated. RoundAntennae asks for but does not demand a donation to go toward studio rental.

Practice for Peace: free community yoga class

This class is an invitation for all to practice yoga in a safe and welcoming environment. We will practice as unique individuals and as a cohesive community, creating a space for recognition and acceptance of ourselves and each other. The practice will include both movement and stillness, encourage both strength and flexibility and bring awareness to the mind-body connection.  Part of SADC’s Dancers for Dialogue and Action, this class is free and all are welcome. Isadora Duncan Dance Workshop

Isadora’s dance gives expression to the soul through natural movement of the body and it’s inspired by nature, greek classical art and music. This workshop includes a warm-up, across the floor and original repertory of Isadora Duncan. All dancers will be given a tunic and scarf to use during class. A short video of Isadora dancing will be shown at the beginning of the workshop. All levels welcome.

Featuring live samba drummers and dancers winding their way through the party, salsa, soca, cumbia, rumba and more. Vertical dance company BANDALOOP presents Dances from Thin Air, a multi-media evening of vertical dance and film of the company’s recent mountain dances.

For one night only, BANDALOOP will light up the Great Wall of Oakland with its dynamic vertical dance. The award-winning short film SHIFT, shot at the Yosemite National Park and recent footage of the new work Coyote Waltzes, filmed as part of the National Park Service Centennial will frame the performance. Bringing wild space to urban place, Dances from Thin Air shares the mountain heart of BANDALOOP’s artistry.
