Choreographers and Coffee

Choreographers and Coffee is a meet up for choreographers of all genres that is held on the first Thursday of each month from 3-4pm at Robins Cafe on the ODC Theater Building. This meet up is a chance for choreographers at any stage in their career to engage in caffeinated conversation about the joys, discoveries, road blocks and pivotal moments that are faced while creating work. Conversations in the past have lead to: social impact on creating work, grant writing/fundraising, performance discussions, and finding ways to balance administrative work with artistry. Choreographers and Coffee offers a place outside the studio where artists can stay connected with each other and offer support through out own triumphs and tribulations.

San Francisco Dance Film Festival Showing

Alonzo King LINES Dance Center and San Francisco Dance Film Festival present a special screening of short dance films created by students from an 8 week Screendance workshop presented by LINES Dance Center and taught by the SFDFF’s Ben Estabrook. Screening will also include student films from past festivals and a post-screening discussion with participating filmmakers and Ben Estabrook.

Moving Arts Studio: Residency Series

Showcaseing works-in-progress by choreographer Alyssandra Katherine Wu and Isabel Rosenstock.

Wu’s project will explore the concept of “entanglement” and how an anxious body and mind can become tangled. Isabel Rosenstock and Galen Rogers will show a duet that explores themes of structure and disintegration; inspired by the poetry and artwork of Tel Aviv based street artist, Know Hope.

The residency will leave time for audience members to interact with the artists and give feedback on their experience with each work. The event is FREE and there is plenty of free street parking in the area. Please join us if you are interested in experiencing new dance and exploring alternative arts spaces within the San Francisco, Bay Area.
