Presented in association with Arts + Design as part of A+D Wednesdays, a public lecture series embedded in the Creative Gateway undergraduate course. Free and open to the public.

Mini Conference on Arts-focused Youth Programming in Afterschool Settings

Tarot in Motion™ FREE Workshop

Tarot in Motion ™ is a system to create body sourcing, movement and expression that have both individual and archetypical meaning based on drawn Tarot cards. Related symbols on the cards then serve as a structure for movement pieces that are personally cathartic.

• Craft an expressive dance using Tarot as a guide
• Use Tarot for the first time or in a new way
• Evoke the healing power of dance & movement

End of Summer Showcase

The performance will feature Kathy Mata Ballet dancers performing pieces ranging from the classical to the contemporary. Highlights include:

  • “Simply Mozart,” a charming classical ballet piece choreographed by company director Kathy Mata
  • “Orpheus in the Underworld,” a full-length romantic, mystical and adventurous story ballet
  • Original solos, duets, and guest performances ranging from modern to musical theater and more
