What is Gumbo?

The exact origin of what we have come to know as Gumbo is often used as a metaphor for the melting pot of cultures that have come to exist in southern Louisiana and around the world. A perfect combination of French, Spanish, Native American, African, Italian, and German culinary influences, people from each of these cultures lived together in a small area of Louisiana in the 18th and 19th centuries.

We are taking this concept to The Dance Floor. Each class will have more than one teacher, there will be 2-4 teachers bringing you many different spices of dance to the table, from african, to afro Lyrical, jazz, bellydance, salsa and more come taste the flavors of dance for the fun of it. Your teachers for the month of Febuary will be Carla Service of Dance-A-Vision Entertainment, Afia Thompsom of Bahiya Movement & Devine Hardy of The Body Canvas Collective. See you at the table – On THE DANCE FLOOR!
