Afro-Peruvian Fest 2023

June 4 @ 2:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Free

Three Latinx people edited together in front of a dark red background. One is wearing a half red/half black-colored demon mask and a yellow ruffled top. One is medium-brown skinned man holding up a bone instrument. The last is a woman playing a violin as she wears a loose green top and looking off into the distance.

The first Afro-Peruvian festival held in the San Francisco Bay Area, Afro-Peruvian Fest is an annual event that takes place every June with the aim of celebrating Afro-Peruvian culture month.

In 2006 the Peruvian government declared the month of June as Afro-Peruvian Culture Month. Afro-Peruvian Fest brings together local SF Bay Area and California based artists and culture bearers and creates a bridge with other Afro-Peruvian culture bearers based in Peru. This year the 4th annual festival is opening with a performance of Huellas by Cunamacué.
