The first Afro-Peruvian festival held in the San Francisco Bay Area, Afro-Peruvian Fest is an annual event that takes place every June with the aim of celebrating Afro-Peruvian culture month.
In 2006 the Peruvian government declared the month of June as Afro-Peruvian Culture Month. Afro-Peruvian Fest brings together local SF Bay Area and California based artists and culture bearers and creates a bridge with other Afro-Peruvian culture bearers based in Peru. This year the 4th annual festival is opening with a performance of Huellas by Cunamacué.
