On August 6, 2020, Efeya Ifadayo Olaberinjo Makala Sampson, Ifa priestess, dancer, choreographer, scholar, educator, folklorist, and beloved member of Àṣẹ Dance Theater transitioned into the ancestral realm. Before she made her transition, she created the beginning of a dance film called, The Road to Ose Tura. As Efeya got closer to transitioning, she charged Adia Tamar Whitaker and other members of her  dance family to complete the dance film she began.

Following The Road to Ose Tura is Adia Tamar Whitaker’s dance and music response to The Road to Ose Tura. It is the landing pad for Adia’s rumination’s on facing her own mortality and the immortality of her friend. It is the container of Adia’s reflections while realizing Efeya’s films, navigating grief, loss, survivor’s guilt, and the memories of the inequities Adia and Efeya experienced while interacting with healthcare system live.
