Class will begin with a 30-minute warm up followed by an hour and a half dedicated to learning excerpts of “Elephant,” choreographed by Emma Portner and performed by SFDanceworks in 2025. These excerpts involve highly specific, upright, gestural dancing, with a focus on imagery, task-based precision, and musicality. Participants will be expected to pick up choreography at an advanced level. Modification, adaptation, and translation are welcome in this class.
