intergalactic improvisations
Join pateldanceworks for an improv-based movement class that offers space for individual and group engagement with imagery-based refusal and anti-urgency as a way to realize different ways of being in and relating to the world. We will play, imagine, and travel with Lola Olufemi’s concept of “imagining otherwise” alongside Heather Love’s provocation for a queer method of “feeling backward” to meet past, present, and future simultaneously.
No movement experience required, just a willingness for presence together.
Over a dark field of space with white dotted stars, a large pink puffy cloud, and dark galaxy-like patch of purple and pink, text reads: "intergalactic improvisations. sun nov 22 11:30am-1:15pm push… sanctuary, SF. a workshop with Bhumi Patel." photos of dancers appear to be dancing in the galaxy.
