Invisible Traces: SF Chinatown

June 12, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Free

Invisible Traces: SF Chinatown is a virtual dance performance celebrating the resiliency of the Chinese community in San Francisco despite the wake of racist laws such as the Chinese Exclusion Act. The work will be presented virtually in association with the Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center as part of the 24th annual United States of Asian America Festival.

Creative Director Claudine Naganuma brings together interviews by Nancy Hom, Pam Tau Lee, Tom Bing Tam, and others to talk about our history, the vibrancy of Chinese culture, ways to support each other and to promote healing. Performance by dNaga, with editing by Marie Fontejon, animation by Elmira Bagherzadeh, and design by Dale MacDonald. Music by Bun-Ching Lam, Joel Davel, Genny Lim and Jon Jang.
