Conceived, curated, and choreographed by Co-Artistic Director Katerina Wong, Step/Song/Story is a live, collaborative storytelling event that will bring together Bay Area-based dancers, musicians, and text-based/literary artists for a public cross-disciplinary performance. Each month will feature a mix of different contributors alongside RAWdance, to highlight the expansive array of local artistic voices and perspectives. Step/Song/Story is presented in partnership with the Transbay Joint Powers Authority, owner and operator of the Salesforce Transit Center and Rooftop Park.

A favorite in the Balanchine canon, George Balanchine’s Jewels is a triptych of dances evoking French (“Emeralds”), American (“Rubies”), and Russian (“Diamonds”) ballet traditions, inspired by the choreographer’s visit to the jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels. Miami City Ballet returns for the first time in more than a decade to perform his seminal ballet, danced to music by Fauré, Stravinsky, and Tchaikovsky.

'Apparatus of Repair' is the final chapter of 'The Decarceration Trilogy,' a series of site-specific aerial dance and public art performances exploring the devastating effects of mass incarceration. With a cast of five dancers, the event transforms the intimate healing process of restorative justice into a public performance, danced in the air and on the vertical surfaces of buildings. The work is grounded in the lived experiences of survivors of violent assault as well as the perpetrators of that violence.
