ODC Pilot 74: REAL:FAKE
Six dancers are all peering into their own reflections through a large, rectangular mirror. They are wearing many different colors and are huddled around another small, circular mirror, which they are holding up between themselves. In the foreground, we see the shoulders of two of the dancers that the photographer is taking the photo over. The image is fractured, like broken glass, with some pieces of the image repeating in long, thin triangles. We see a multitude of fractals- eyes, hands, clavicles, different faces repeating over and over again around the image. The background is dark, the title "REAL:FAKE" is written in white over the top, with the dates of shows, and the ODC logo.
ODC is pleased to announce the 74th iteration of its Pilot Program, supporting production for Bay Area choreographers since 1990. Entitled REAL:FAKE, this dance event is composed of six new original works, all approximately ten minutes in length, by the choreographers in this year’s cohort: Clairey Evangelho, Raychel Hatch, Jenni Hong, Lily Gee, Amber Gott, and Addison Norman. In REAL:FAKE, each choreographic work is as idiosyncratic as it is relatable, as much a reconception of conventional dance performance as it is a mirror of the self. Featuring stunning dancers drawn from all corners of the Bay Area, REAL:FAKE promises to take audiences on a journey of imagination, emotion, and humanity. A reception will follow the March 2nd performance.
