OYSTERKNIFE and CounterPulse: mouf//full
February 2 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
$25 – $40In this photo, Chibueze is a short, lighter brown Black person with short curly black hair. Gabriele is a Black non-binary person with long gray and red braids tied neatly behind their head. From a side profile, Chibueze, with eyes closed and white boots, backbends into a surrendering lean onto Gabriele’s back, who squats wide in black boots on a gray labyrinth floor, slightly blending into a black background. They both wear tan robes and red and tan sashes.
OYSTERKNIFE and CounterPulse’s upcoming premiere mouf//full is a large-scale, site specific, three-day performance event that honors Black faith across diaspora, secular and institutional, indigenous and inherited.
mouf//full will be presented in partnership with Grace Cathedral as part of their 2024 annual Spacious Grace Festival happening this February.
mouf//full re-wilds the Church into our own image, reimagining what it means to make a Black queer Mas(s) in a world hellbent on division. Involving a sprawl of miracle workers in immersive ritual, dance, song, and visual design, OYSTERKNIFE lead artists Gabriele Christian + Chibueze Crouch invite you to Grace Cathedral, hands open, moufs full.
