The Mary Sano Studio proudly presents the 27th Annual Dionysian Festival, a celebration of dance and music which coincides with Isadora Duncan’s birthday. This year, several talented artists and friends of the studio are returning to present their work; celebrating the mother of modern dance, who was born in San Francisco on May 26, 1877.

The program includes both solo and collaborative original work from Los Angeles based composer/pianist Tony Sano Chapman, Bay Area Butoh dancer Megan Nicely, Courtney Ramm and her company RammDance, Flamenco dancer Koko de la Isla, and award-winning composer Merrill Collins. SJSU dance student Nancy Perez (mentored by Mary Sano) will join us to present her graduation work ‘five Brahms waltzes’ with pianist Danny Xu. Hideo will share his unique presentaion of Japanese bamboo flute music, and Lanny Devuono will exhibit her most recent paintings. Mary Sano and Adrienne Ramm, two of the world’s foremost interpreters of Duncan choreography, will perform authentic Duncan choreography to the music of Gluck and Chopin.
