Open Call for Folk Dancers

Jubilee American Dance Theatre is looking for dancers who would like to learn and perform traditional American folk dances – from Appalachian clogging, square dances, Cajun jitterbug, reels, quadrilles and polka, all in authentic period costumes. Over the company’s 25 years, we have performed in many international folk festivals and San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festivals, and at many local schools and other community events.

Previous dance experience of any kind (contra, ballroom, Zydeco, Swing) is helpful, but not required – you only need a commitment to learning and practice. Join us as we teach a few of the dances we perform in a low-stress setting. Wear comfortable clothing and dance shoes of any type.
