sjDANCEco, San José’s Professional Contemporary and Classic Modern Dance Company is seeking a female or male dancer for their 24th Anniversary Season and Youth performances in San José at the California Theatre October 9 & 10. Dancers should have a strong proficiency in contemporary/modern dance with solid classical ballet foundation. Repertory will include work by Artistic Director Emeritus Gary Masters, Resident Choreographer Nhan Ho, Choreographic Advisor Fred Mathews, Company Choreographer Hsiang Hsiu Lin and Guest Choreographer Andrew Merrill.

Palm Desert Choreography Festival – now accepting choreography
Palm Desert Choreography Festival is a dynamic live platform for dancemakers and dancers to showcase their work and powerfully engages audiences around dance in the Coachella Valley. Dedicated to dance as an art form, the Festival presents new, original choreography and features a competition in two divisions, a Lifetime Achievement Award presentation, outreach projects, workshops, and networking opportunities for choreographers and dancers.
Since 1998, the Festival has presented 807 original pieces of choreography and awarded over $900,000 to choreographers.
Submission Deadline: April 1. Submit by March 15 for a $40 discount.
Grand Prize, $10,000. Stipends awarded to all Finalists.
Spring Performance Workshop Scholarship Audition
Welcoming dancers of all levels, beginning through advanced, to attend the Scholarship Audition for the Spring Performance Workshops!
Warm up together and learn choreography, meet other dancers interested in performing, and potentially receive a partial scholarship for a 10-week workshop series culminating in a performance at the Sanctuary Showcase May 16-17. Dancers of all levels are encouraged to audition, beginning through advanced!

The Shotgun Players are hosting auditions for a new piece created by Erika Chong Shuch and Charles Mee called The Fall Show:
Long-lasting love is marked by both comfort and conflict. In The Fall Show, an older couple’s unexpected romance unfolds against a maelstrom of memory and movement. Lovers collide, chaos erupts, and tenderness persists in an intimate examination of love ‘til the very end.
Cast needs:
Two actors mid 60s-80s. Modest movement and singing skills required. Playing piano is a plus. The nudity called out in the script is optional.
Additionally, 5 actors/dancers ages 20s-60s. Strong movement and dance capabilities and modest singing skills required.
First round auditions:
Please submit a self tape with a monologue (2 minute max) and song (1 minute max)
