Davalos Dance 30th Anniversary Concert
The Davalos Dance Company celebrates 30 years of dancemaking that address rematriation, land sovereignty, colorism, immigration, LGBTQ+ justice, and race. Chicana Choreographer CatherineMarie Davalos uses dance theater to explore and entangle an exchange of Modern Dance with Baile Folklorico and Indigenous movement practices making dances that question heteronormativity, challenge patriarchy, address the ongoing impact of colonization and celebrate the Mexican/Chicane experience.
Dance artist Micah Sallid is onstage reaching upward from flowing chocolatey brown fabric that surrounds her feet. She is wearing various shades of brown to represent cacao.
