Kathy Mata Ballet Turns class
This class is for dancers looking to fine tune their turns, from achieving your first single pirouette to doubles and more. Class begins with barre work designed to strengthen your foundations in classical ballet, emphasizing proper alignment, placement, and engagement. Focus is placed on the foundations of good turns: preparation and take off, maintaining balance and control throughout the movement, and ending with proper placement.
We then move to center to translate barre work to combinations on the floor. Center work focuses on adagio and pirouettes, allowing dancers to gain confidence
Smuin Contemporary Ballet presents Future Forward
Smuin Contemporary Ballet presents a quadruple bill with Future Forward. The final program in Smuin’s 25/26 season, the evening includes the return of Hearts Suite, an excerpt from founder Michael Smuin’s beloved ballet set to the songs of Edith Piaf, and Kate Skarpetowska’s Sextette, a joyful piece set to Bach. Two world premieres cement the company’s ongoing commitment to new work. Artistic Director Amy Seiwert creates her 15th ballet and Andi Schermoly, formerly of Nederlands Dans Theater, brings her cinematic and athletic choreography to her first piece for the Company.
