Participatory Scoring and Open House
The Performance Lab, which began under legendary dancer Anna Halprin, will open up its weekly practice to anyone who wants to witness or participate. For over 12 years, we have been creating movement scores using the RSVP Cycles, a method developed by Anna and her husband, Lawrence, for simultaneously generating and evolving creative work. Drawing from specific intentions and activities, each score makes meaningful movement out of our lives and the world around us. Come join us to move, learn about and create scores, and have fun! No experience needed.
Intro to poi spinning
Interested in getting started with poi spinning? This class is for you!
This workshop will focus on the fundamentals of poi spinning including spin direction, relative timing, and a few of the more fundamental moves. The workshop will culminate in a short sequence that integrates the skills taught during the workshop.
The class is geared to folks who are new to the art form, so if you no experience – no problem! Poi will be available for attendees to use for the workshop.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in comfortable/athletic clothing and bring a water bottle.
