Duniya Dance and Drum Company is looking for 2-4 dancers of all genders who align with our mission and are dedicated to the power of art to create social change. We do evening-length theater performances, school assemblies, festival performances, and private gigs such as weddings, business events, and parties.

More information regarding what we are looking for, our mission, and what to expect at the audition can be found in the Google Form!

If you pick up choreography quickly, have performance experience, and are trained in Bhangra, Bollywood, other forms of South Asian dance, Hip Hop, or West African dance, and are ready to commit to weekly rehearsals, please come audition!

Modern Dance Audition

For our 20th anniversary season, NCDE seeks experienced modern dancers, who will be paid monthly for development and performance of new and repertory work. We prefer to develop long-term relationships; minimum one-year commitment required. The company offers challenging material in a fun and supportive rehearsal environment; choreographic opportunities will also be available. Company members will be eligible to attend summer dance camp in 2025 for the creation of site-specific work. Auditions run like an informal class, with a group warm-up followed by learning a phrase. No need to prepare any materials in advance. Bring a CV if you have one, but it is not required. Come with comfortable dance clothes and an open mind!

GIRLFLY SUMMER ART & ACTIVISM PROGRAM

The 19th-annual GIRLFLY curriculum poses the question, “Who owns the corner?” We will bring students examples where community voices have manifested or are working to manifest real ownership on the city’s streets. We will look at models by The Women’s Building in the Mission, the APICC/KULARTS Performing Arts Space South of Market, and 111 Taylor Street in the Tenderloin, as well as Space 124. Students will explore the theme through apparatus-based dance, site specific performance, and an activist module led by visual artist Adrian Arias.
– Applicants must be between the ages of 14-21 and must be women or Gender Non-Conforming Youths
– Applicants will earn $550 for participating

SoulForce Dance Company Auditions

Directed by Micaya, SoulForce Dance Company is looking for high quality dancers to join us for the 2025 season. Hip Hop and Fusion dancers encouraged. Rehearsals are Tuesday nights with some Sundays as well. Also dancers are required to take Micaya’s Thursday night 8pm class. Performances in June.

Open Call for Folk Dancers

Jubilee American Dance Theatre is looking for dancers who would like to learn and perform traditional American folk dances – from Appalachian clogging, square dances, Cajun jitterbug, reels, quadrilles and polka, all in authentic period costumes. Over the company’s 25 years, we have performed in many international folk festivals and San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festivals, and at many local schools and other community events.

Previous dance experience of any kind (contra, ballroom, Zydeco, Swing) is helpful, but not required – you only need a commitment to learning and practice. Join us as we teach a few of the dances we perform in a low-stress setting. Wear comfortable clothing and dance shoes of any type.

Auditions to join Duniya Dance and Drum Company

Duniya Dance and Drum Company is seeking 2-4 dancers to join our team. In addition to taking this audition class, you have the option to present a 1-minute piece of choreography. Please send us music in advance to managingdirector@duniyadance.com.This solo should be in the style you feel comfortable, it is meant to show us how you perform something that you know well.
