Looking for Movement Artists for Process-Based Creative Workshops

Recently returning to the Bay Area, I am an interdisciplinary choreographer / artist looking to connect with local movement artists interested in creative exploration and collaboration. I will be hosting intentional, process-based workshops at my home studio this fall and would love to invite those interested. Dance-artists of all walks of life, movement languages and abilities welcome. These workshops will be improv-based, site responsive and somatically inclined… cultivating a space to test choreographic ideas, experiment, immerse ourselves in the natural surroundings, and build community.

Call for Choreographers: Sketching II | a studio sharing & discussion

Sketching is a works-in-progress and discussion series hosted by Other Place, a project-based dance company and choreography incubator in the East Bay. This is our second iteration. We want to create an supportive environment to help artists show work, develop craft, and build community regardless of available resources. So, the discussion and social hour is just as important as the showing. Previous choreographers have included Natasha Adorlee, Josué Villeda, and Savannah Dunn.

This is meant to be a quick, easy interest form, not a formal grant or residency application. We simply want to know if you are interested in this community offering. As many invitations will be extended as time and space allows.

Reggaetón Performance Workshop

This 9-week series is designed to refine dancers’ skill in reggaetón and performance while building community through movement. The choreography will be built with sections for both beginner and intermediate dancers, as well as fun unison sections that celebrate movers of all abilities. The series will culminate with a onstage performance at the Palace of Fine Arts Theater in S.F. During rehearsals, dancers will be invited to move beyond simply executing vocabulary and deepen their understanding of musicality, movement quality, expression, and style. This opportunity is geared towards dancers who already train in commercial style class(es), and are excited about elevating to the next level! Dancers are welcome to attend the 1st rehearsal as a drop-in before committing to the full series.

Our weekly Open Labs invite people of all ages and backgrounds to engage in community-led, hands-on sessions where movement and technology intersect. Participants are encouraged to contribute ideas, lead activities, and explore new ways of creating together.
